Dean F. Boardman

Dean F. Boardman, age 91, resident of Shelby, died Sunday, April 23,2017 at his daughter's home in Glenford Ohio. 

Born January 2, 1926 in New Haven Twp., Huron County, Ohio to Ray C. and Wauneta (Maynard) Boardman, he had been a Shelby resident since 1951.  A 1943 graduate of N. Fairfield High School, he served in the US Navy during WWII and graduated from Ashland College in 1951.  

Mr. Boardman was employed with the Shelby Mutual Insurance Company retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, a past master of the Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F&AM, a member of Shelby Chapter RAM #178, Al Koran Shrine, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus; American Legion Post #326; past member of Shelby Kiwanis Club and a past president of the Shelby Jaycees.  He enjoyed golf and woodworking.

He is survived by daughters, Judy (Jim) Vatter of Glenford, Ohio, and Joni (John Hribal) Ramey of Mt. Perry, Ohio; one son, John (Edwina) Boardman of Ghent, West Virginia; one step-daughter, Deborah (Witchie) Curren of Ontario; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. (Frietchen) Boardman in 2012 and one brother, Earle Boardman.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00PM Thursday April 27, 2017 from the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, with Reverend Russel Yoak officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call Thursday at the church from 5:00-7:00PM.
