Emma L. DeSalvo Petty, age 88, resident of Shelby died Wednesday October 18, 2017 in Crestwood Care Center. Born Aug. 16, 1929 in Center Ridge, Arkansas to Tony L. and Josephine M. (Rossi) DeSalvo, she had been a Shelby resident since 1946. She was a former employee of Miller Products and Miami Systems. A member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, she sang in the choir and had been a longtime member of the Altar & Rosary Society.
Emma enjoyed traveling and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet (Henry) Hunsinger of Mansfield and Marjorie Garvin of Naples, Florida; grandchildren,
Peter (Summer) Hunsinger of Mansfield, Jeremy Jacobs of Albany, OR., Stephanie (Barron) Williamson of Dunlap, TN. and Heidi (John) Emerick of Lyman, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Chase Hunsinger, Brianna and Caiden Williamson and Benjamin and Micah Kilgore; step-great grandchildren Kaylie and Reese Vance; brothers, Thomas DeSalvo and Tony DeSalvo of Center Ridge, Arkansas; sisters, Clara Granger of Edmond,
Oklahoma, Virginia Lambert of Carmichael, California, Patricia Hart and Margaret Hart, both of Springfield, Arkansas, Christina Koch, Angela
(James) Malik, and Delores Hartman, all of Morrilton, Arkansas, Beatrice (Carl) Miller of Center Ridge, Arkansas, and Antoinette Hall of Greenbrier, Arkansas; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Frances Paladino DeSalvo; her husband, Harley F. Petty, Jr.; her son, James Petty; brothers, Henry, Augustine, Father Raphael, Abraham, Brother Tobias DeSalvo and Michael DeSalvo; her sister, Sister Marie Rose DeSalvo and special friend, Ray Shira.
Friends may call at Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby on Tuesday October 24, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Immediately following the calling, funeral services will be held 5:00PM Tuesday at the Barkdull Funeral Home with Father Chris Mileski officiating. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Center Ridge, Arkansas.
