Genevieve S Adkins

Genevieve S. Adkins, age 59 and Shelby resident died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Ohio Health in Mansfield.

Born December 26, 1957 in Willard, Ohio to Vernon and Dorothy (Poe) Lykins she had been a Florida resident for many years before moving to Shelby over 23 years ago. Genevieve was the manager of the Duchesses gas station on Trimble Road for over 20 years. 

A member of the First Church of God, she enjoyed gardening, watching HGTV and restoring Victorian homes.

She is survived by her husband Robert Adkins, whom she wed September 7, 1996; two children, Pamela Roberts of Palm Bay, Fl and Daniel Carpenter of Mansfield; six grandchildren Mikayla and Brayden Carpenter whom she had raised, Erica Stuart, Jason, Lisa, and Amy Roberts; six siblings Bill (Sheila) Lykins of TX, Twins Kevin (Joann) Lykins of FL and Karen Enderle of Tiro, Larry (Gary) Lykins of AZ, John Chryl Lykins of Mansfield, Joe (Vickie) Lykins of TN as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Gary Lykins and brother-in-law Nick Enderle.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday February 22, 2017 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Reverend S.T. Adkins will officiate with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial expressions be made in the form of a donation to St Jude's Children Hospital at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
