Helen L. Koffroth, age 97, resident of Shelby, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Born August 30, 1920 in Detroit, MI, she had lived in Akron and Sarasota, FL for many years, moving to Shelby in 1989. Helen worked as a food service worker in public schools and enjoyed bowling and ballroom dancing. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelby and Woodland Methodist Church in Akron.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Harold Metzger of Shelby; three grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Miller of Titusville, FL, John (Peggy) Myers of Titusville, FL, Karen (Glenn) Griffiths of Akron, OH; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives..
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Fern Thorp, her husband, Wilbur "Bill" Koffroth in 1993; an infant son, James Koffroth; son, Thomas Koffroth; one daughter, Linda Koffroth and one brother, Raymond Hagle.
Graveside services will be held at later date at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Akron. Calling hours will not be observed.
