Janet D Scheid

Janet Scheid, a long time resident of Shelby, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Saturday January 13th at the age of 86.  The daughter of Harold and Hazel (Bowman) Payne, was born on December 30, 1931 in Shelby.  A proud 1949 graduate of Shelby high school, Janet continued to maintain her high school friendships up until her passing.  She was a life long member of The First Christian Church of Shelby.  Her involvement at the church included being church historian and elder.

Her love of history and antiquing helped prepare her for being Co-founder of the Shelby Museum.  Her hobbies included reading historical novels and watching WWII movies.  She had a passion for antiques, learning all she could about the pieces she collected.  Frank Sinatra was her favorite singer, bringing back memories of her youth. 

Janet is survived by her husband Ron Scheid, and her sister Sandra Lybarger also of Shelby.   She is also survived by her children Susan (Mickits) Gerber of Spring, Texas, and Stephanie (Mickits) Yoder of Salt Lake City, Utah.  Her five grandchildren include Cathy (Gerber) Horn, Heather (Yoder) Fowler, Sarah (Yoder) Thomas,  Bethany (Yoder) Gusmer, and Jennifer Yoder.  She was also great-grandmother to Mitchell Horn, Matthew Horn, Madeleine Gusmer, Grayson Gusmer, and Benjamin Thomas. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son David Scheid.

Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory, on Saturday January 20th from 10:00am to 12:00pm.  The funeral service will immediately follow, conducted by lay pastor Steve Grover.  A private family burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
