Jeanette S. Gwirtz

Jeanette  Gwirtz, age 77, of Shelby passed away on January 5, 2018 at Ohio Health Hospital in Shelby with her loving husband by her side.

She was born on January 29, 1940 to Richard and Catherine (Heiland) Shupp. Jeanette was a life long Shelby resident, graduating from Shelby Senior High School. 

She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary's Catholic Church and Amvets Post #13. Jeanette enjoyed watching wrestling, the Cleveland Browns, American Idol, Country Music TV, and classic movies, staying up late to tune into some of her favorite shows.

Jeanette is survived by her husband John Gwirtz, whom she wed November 13, 1959; son Richard Gwirtz of Elizabeth Town, KY; daughter Victoria  (Dan) Todd of Shelby; three grandchildren Kristen Gwirtz, Tyler (Taylor) Gwirtz of Wooster, Ohio and Amber (Lee) Costello of Minerva, Ohio; great-grandchildren Jordan, Xavier, Leilani, Cierra, Kayleigh, Macson and brother Richard (Evelyn) Shupp of Port Clinton, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son Edward J. Gwirtz, two sisters Beverly Dunn, her twin sister Janet Fry, and great-granddaughter Kora Costello.

Friends may call at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be held at Most Pure Heart of Mary at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment held in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Jeanette to St. Mary's Catholic School at 29 West St. Shelby, OH 44875.
