Lonzo I. Stover Sr. age 77 died Monday, January 15, 2018 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Born March 19, 1940 in Artie West Virginia to William "Will" and Madge (Dunbar) Stover, he had been a New Washington resident for the majority of his life before moving to Shelby 10 years ago in 2008. A 1958 graduate of Clear Fork High School, Lonzo had worked and retired from the North Fork Western Rail Road.
A member of the York Chapel and the Church of God in Shelby, he had enjoyed playing bingo, foraging for mushrooms, cooking, hunting, watching sports and collecting walnuts in the woods.
Lonzo is survived by his wife Beth (Ritchie) Stover, whom he wed January 25, 1993, five children Lonzo Stover Jr. of Bloomville, OH, Chris (Annabel) Sallee of Bellevue, Dianna (Rick) Roberts of Shelby, Timothy Sallee of Bucyrus and Dennis Sallee of Tennessee; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; four siblings Diane (Mike) Hall of Beckly, WV, William (Joetta) Stover of Holton Lake, MI, Lewis (Nancy) Stover of Conneaut, OH and Robert Stover of Cleveland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Martha (Roberts) Stover in 1990; one brother Earsel Stover; four sisters Nellie Biondi, Audra Shea, Sue Ann Workman, and Alice Gene Woodword.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Pastor Calvin Robinson will officiate with interment held in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
