Mary "Joanne" Joan Heydinger

Mary Joan "Joanne" Heydinger, age 87, resident of Shelby, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Crestwood Care Center.  

Born January 25, 1928 in New Washington to Franklin and Gertrude (Wurm) Niedermier, she was a graduate of New Washington High School and has been a resident of Shelby since 1946. She was formerly employed at Ohio Seamless Tube in the office. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, Altar Rosary Society. 

Mary enjoyed reading, listening to opera music and for many years, sketching. 

Survivors include her husband, Raymond A. Heydinger whom she married August 20, 1949; five daughters, Karen (Wayne) Gurney, Cheryl (Jack) Pfeifer, of Shelby, Annette Smith of Fort Mill, SC, Susan (Russell) Siesel of New Washington, and Laura Young of Lexington; two sons, David Heydinger of Shelby, and Gary (April) Heydinger of Reynoldsburg; 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Freda Coder of New Washington, Carol Kimmet, of Tiffin, and Janice (Jim) Horning, of Crestline; sister-in-law Rita Studer of Mansfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and special friend Abegail Heydinger. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Haley Young; son-in-law, Jason Young; one brother, Kenneth Niedemier; and one sister, Marilyn Herman; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and her mother and father-in-law, August and Mary Heydinger. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 AM Saturday July 11, 2015 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Frank Kehres, her nephew, will officiate with interment in the Parrish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby where a scripture service will be held at 7:00PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Shelby Help Line Ministries.
