May J. Harris

May J. Harris, age 94, resident of Shelby passed away Wednesday morning, April 29, 2015, at the home of her son. 

Born August 16, 1920 in Greenwich, Ohio to Carl William and Hazel Marita (Charlesworth) Seagren, she resided in Hendersonville, NC for many years before moving to Shelby in April of 2014.  She was a 1937 graduate of Greenwich High School. 

May was a member of the Church of Christ in Greenwich. A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and even made some of her own dresses.

She is survived by her son, Ned Eugene (Vany) Harris of Shelby; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, May way preceded in death in 2007 by her husband, Richard "Dick" Lee Harris, whom she wed May 20, 1942; one son, Stephen Lee Harris; grandson, Timothy Harris and three brothers, Frederick C. Kroumholtz, George Gilbert Kroumholtz, and Carl "Junior" William Seagren.

Funeral service will be held 7:30 PM Monday May 4, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby with Reverend Floyd Glick officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. A private family committal service will be held in Greenlawn Twp. Cemetery, Greenwich.
