Orma Huebner

December 4, 1914 ~ April 28, 2015 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Orma W. Huebner, age 100, former Shelby resident died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Mt. Carmel, St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.

Born December 4, 1914 in Cleveland to Harvey J. and Effie (Loëwe) Webster she received her bachelors degree from Hiram College and her library science degree from Western Reserve. On July 10, 1939, she married John Huebner who preceded her in death in 1983. In 1946 they moved to Greenwich. Orma worked as a librarian until her children were born and then stayed home to raise her family. In 1962 they moved to Shelby and she worked at the Marvin Memorial Library until her retirement in 1979.  In 2012 she moved to Lewis Center, Ohio to be with her daughter and family.

Orma was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She served on the Area Agency on Aging, the Council of Churches and was a former president of the Shelby AARP. A great story teller, her love of reading radiated to others as she promoted reading and enjoyed giving book reports. Orma was a wonderful cook who loved to garden.

Surviving are her four children, David Huebner of Ashland, Anne (James) Crabbs of Lewis Center, Linda (Robert) Conklin of Lexington and Norman (Pam) Huebner of Butler; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Norman Webster, brother, Vernon Webster and sister, Lidamae Morrison.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Rev. James Macdonald will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10:00-11:00AM. Memorial expressions may be made to the Marvin Memorial Library or to the First United Methodist Church.
