Robert Edward Day, age 78, died Tuesday July 19, 2016 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital. Born October 11, 1937 in Shelby, Ohio to William & Allie (Van Ness) Day, he had been a Shelby resident until moving to Mansfield in 1979. Robert had worked at General Motors as a pipefitter, retiring in June of 2003.
He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles and leatherworking.
Robert is survived by two sons, William Day of Columbus and David Day & Lynn Myers of Shelby; one daughter, Jane Sturgill of Shelby; four grandchildren, Michael Day, Crystal Ramey, Sarah Sturgill and Emily Day and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene Day.
Funeral services will not be observed. Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
