Robert J. Edwards

Robert J. "Rob" Edwards, age 65, resident of Shelby died Tuesday October 10, 2017 in Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. Born June 30, 1952 in Cincinnati, OH to Harold E. and Margaret E. (Mendenhall) Edwards he had been a resident of Cincinnati moving to Shelby in 1989. A 1970 graduate of William Harrison High School he was formerly employed with Cincinnati Gas and Electric Co. Rob was then employed with General Motors as a tool and die maker retiring in 2009. A gifted metal worker and great problem solver, he truly enjoyed his job and had an uncanny understanding of how things worked. 

His passion was building and flying radio controlled airplanes, a hobby that his father also loved. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling  and will be remembered as very generous family man. 

Surviving are his wife Nancy (Goldsmith) Edwards, whom he married June 28, 1975; two sons Charles E. (Rebecca) Edwards of Mansfield and Nicholas S. Edwards of Marysville, OH; one grandson Merrick Johnson; his mother Peg Edwards of Miamitown, OH; one brother Mike (Janice) Edwards of Cincinnati, OH; one nephew Andrew (Brittany) Edwards, one niece Amy (Aaron) Puckett and other relatives.  

He was preceded in death by his father Harold E. Edwards. 

Memorial services will be held 11:00AM Saturday October 21, 2017 at the Faith United Methodist Church, 1574 St. Rt. 96, Ashland, OH, across from the Crestview School. Pastor Brian Amstutz will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial expressions may be made to Willard RC Fun Flyers, 9 Maple St. Norwalk, OH. 44857. Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby is assisting the family with arrangements.
