Thomas E. Curren

Thomas "Tom" E. Curren, age 65 resident of Florida died peacefully at his home, Tuesday November 3, 2015 in Longwood, Florida.

Born June 22, 1950 in Shelby to Paul, Sr. and Marjorie (Sloop) Curren, he has been a Florida resident for the past 42 years. A 1968 graduate of Shelby High School, Tom attended auto mechanic school and made his living as a professional restorer of classic Jaguar cars. As owner operator of Coventry Classics in Orlando, FL, his auto restoration work was recognized around the world. For many years he was the Jaguar Club of Florida President, Technical Advisor and Chief Judge. He was a very active member, driving and winning slalom events, enjoying tours and everything else that involved the JCOF. He had raced professionally in the 24 hours of Daytona and was very active in IMSA, racing all over the world.

Tom loved to travel and enjoyed sailing, power boating and spending time at the beach. He was certified in various types of SCUBA including being a member of NACD for cave diving and volunteered as a rescue and recovery diver. He was known for being adventurous and fearless, whether he was underwater or behind the wheel.

Tom is survived by his mother, Marjorie Curren of Shelby; three brothers, Paul Curren Jr. of Sparta, KY,  Kenneth Curren of Shelby, OH and Philip Curren of Lake Mary, FL. and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father Paul Curren, Sr.

Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Lester Champer Officiating.
