Viola M. Brown

Viola M. Brown, age 86, passed Tuesday morning, October 24, 2017 at Winchester Place in Canal Winchester, OH.

Born May 21, 1931, in Eldridge, Kentucky to Albert J. and Phoeba J. (Sparks) Oliver she had been a Shelby resident since 1952 moving to Canal Winchester in 2009.  A 1947 graduate of Sandy Hook High School in Kentucky, she retired from Pioneer Rubber in 1976. 

Viola enjoyed baking, crocheting, sewing, reading, and working puzzles. Her greatest love was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was an avid Cleveland Cavs, Ohio State Buckeyes and University of Kentucky fan.

Viola is survived by her husband, Allie L. Brown, who she married May 24, 1947; son Donald (Peggy) Brown of Conroe, TX; daughter, Jane Brown of Canal Winchester; daughter-in-law Cathy Brown of Columbus;  six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Lake Watson of Eaton, OH and Lola Sparks of Portsmouth,OH; brothers, Garland Oliver of Catlettsburg, KY and Albert Oliver of Eaton, OH; nieces, nephews, and many other loved relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sons, Gary Dennis Brown, infant son, Ronald Lee Brown, sister Onnie Stewart; brothers, John, William and Ralph Oliver.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday October 28, 2017, from the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Pastor Peg Welch will officiate with interment held in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00-12:00 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
