William D. "Red" Foreman, age 90, resident of Shelby died Friday December 2, 2016 at his home. Born September 3, 1926 in Ashland to Lee M. "Patrick" and Myrtle (Barker) Foreman he had been a Shelby resident since 1953. Mr. Foreman attended Plymouth High School and had been employed with Waldruff Welding, Mansfield Steel and Supply and Hedstrom Corporation in Ashland retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, American Legion O'Brien Post #326, VFW Post #291, and the Shelby Moose. A veteran of the US Navy, he served with Team #13 of the underwater demolition program during WWII. Red enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are one son, Terry Foreman of Shelby; one daughter Debra (Leonard) Shick of Shelby; four grandchildren, Terra (Danny) Ernsberger, Christopher (Chari) Shick and Brian and Eric Shick; five great grandchildren Zachary McKinnis, Chloe Ernsberger, Tiffany Shick Ringler, Mackenzie Shick and Hannah Shick Seibold; two step children Steve (Amy) Clark and Lori (Tim) Kleman of Shelby and their children; his first wife Dorothy Foreman of Shelby; brother-in-law, Benjamin Johnson of Shelby; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorene Foreman; one great grandson Alex Shick; one sister Lavonne Johnson and four half brothers.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday December 8, 2016 in Oakland Cemetery. Reverend Russel Yoak will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby.
