|JoAnn Heifner, age 64, resident of Shiloh went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 5, 2010 in The Ohio State University Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born October 31, 1945 in Fitchville, Ohio to Ransom and Mary (Wireman) Stephens, she had been a Shiloh resident since 1972. JoAnn had been employed at MTD Industries as a laborer until her retirement in 2007 and attended Ripley Chapel in Greenwich, Ohio. During her lifetime, she was an accomplished gardener that loved cooking, canning and making jelly. More than anything, she loved her grandchildren. Her family states 'she was born to be a grandma'.
Survivors include her son, Joseph (Carrie) Heifner of Shiloh, two daughters, Amy Hamons, and Rebecca Heifner and special friend, Erik Yee, all of Shiloh, her foster daughter, Heather Gruber of Shelby; three grandchildren, Jordan, Joseph II and Julia Heifner; a great-grandson, Xavier Heifner; brother, Carl Stephens of Bedford Heights, Ohio; sister, Wilma Gayheart of Tiro; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Doyle Hamons; four brothers, David, Ruben, Aaron, and Jake Stephens; two sisters, Della Justice and Susie Cabrera and an infant sister, Dolly.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from the Ripley Chapel, Greenwich, with Reverends Ricky Branham, Mark Wireman and Marvin Wireman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby Monday, February 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial expressions to the family, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated.
