You may also choose to prefund your funeral arrangements saving your family the burden of paying, as well as planning. This can also protect yourself and your family from inflating funeral costs.

For those families faced with a Medicaid spend-down, which only allows a maximum of $1,500 worth of assets, prepaying allows the family to take care of the funeral financing without it being considered an asset to the Medicaid recipient.
