Anna Mae Bly, age 85. former resident of Ganges died Wednesday October 24, 2018 in Crestwood Care Center. Born April 7, 1933 in Shelby to Arthur Dewey and Florence (Hopkins) Hamman. She had been a lifelong resident of the Shiloh /Ganges area. A 1951 graduate of Shiloh High School she was a homemaker and had worked as a bookkeeper in the family John Deere business. Anna was an active member of the Ganges Community Church, Ganges Ladies Aid and a past member of Angelus Chapter 322 Order of the Eastern Star in Shiloh. She spent much of her time caring for elderly relatives, enjoying her grandchildren and working word find puzzles.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Garry and Ginny Bly of Ganges and James and Cathy Bly of Shelby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Kenny Burrer of Shiloh and Karen and Mark Harvey of Shelby; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Arthur (Donna) Hamman of Shiloh and Gerald (Lois) Hamman of Mansfield; one sister, Carolyn (Phil) Doerr of North Carolina; special friend Betty Baxter; nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chiz" Bly in 2004; and two brothers, Larry and Eugene "Red" Hamman.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday October 27, 2018 from the Ganges Community Church. Pastor Jim Marshall will officiate with interment in Ganges Cemetery. Friends may call Friday at Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Memorial expressions may be made to the church or Vision 2020 Show/Sale Arena at the Richland County Fair Grounds.
