Charles "Tom" Claytor, age 69 of Shelby died Friday evening September 14, 2018 at The Willows of Willard.
Born April 12, 1949 in Marion, Ohio to Charles Thomas & Bettie Irene (Grogg) Claytor Sr., he has been a Shelby resident the majority of his life. A graduate of Shelby Senior High School class of 1967, Tom then joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1987 after twenty years of service. He had served two tours in Vietnam as a Staff Sergeant and also played baseball and bowled while in the Marines. He then worked for Copperweld for 18 years.
Tom enjoyed working on his house and in the yard, especially feeding his fish. He also enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, dancing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Gail (Robinson) Claytor; his children, Michael Edward (Imelda) Claytor of Iowa, Christina (Shane) Walker of Nebraska, Shealon Claytor of Utah, Amber (Jeff) Castor of Shelby and Julie (Ryan) Templeman of Shelby; 6 grandchildren; his siblings, Barry (Joanne) Claytor of Crestline, Brian Claytor of Shelby and Randi (Kimberly) Claytor of Shelby and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Betty & Leroy Robinson and brother Michael Claytor.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday September 18, 2018 from 5-8 PM. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, in Willard, where military honors will be provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial expressions may be made to Stein Hospice. To honor Charlie the family asks that you ride your Harley to the viewing or to the funeral.
