Clair E. Strong

Clair E. Strong, age 86, of Ontario died at his home Sunday, March 12, 2017, following an extended illness. He was born November 9, 1930, in Sandusky, OH to John and Nettie (Glumm) Strong. Clair was a friendly, kind gentleman who loved his family. He married the love of his life, Donna A. (Schauwecker) Strong April 25, 1953, who preceded him in death on September 9, 2005.

Clair had an avid love for flowers and landscaping. He and his wife, Donna, took First Place in the Men's Garden Club Award, two times, for their flowers and landscaping. He also enjoyed his antique car collection, which includes his first car, a 1924 Model T, which he has owned since he was fifteen years old.

Surviving are two sons, David and Mark Strong of Gatlinburg, TN; two brothers and sister-in-law, Charles Strong of Newport, TN, and James and Bonnie Strong of Russellville, TN; two sisters-in-law, Doris Strong of Ashland, OH and Jenette Strong of Shiloh, OH, a special cousin, Jo Ann Kleinfelder; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Strong; four sisters, Juanita Strong, Iantha (Don) Coffman, Rachel (M) Kamara, Mary (John) McKinley; and two brothers, Allen and Glenn Strong. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, March 16, at the MAC, Mansfield Alliance Church, 291 West Cook Road (Formerly First Alliance Church), Mansfield, OH  44907.  Pastor Mark Pierce will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 10-11 A.M. Burial will be in Ontario Cemetery. 

Very special thanks is given to Clair's long-term caregiver, Candy Smith, for her love, compassion and companionship; Penny, Grant and Jordan Gardiner who were Clair's buddies and daily included him in their lives and activities for 11 1/2 years just like family; Tammy, Jimmy, Taylor, and Jessica Davis who lovingly cared and provided for Clair over many years; and Dot and Jack Robertson for their never ending love and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MAC, Mansfield Alliance Church.
