Connie S. Cox, age 74, resident of Shelby, died Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Born January 4, 1945 in Morehead, Kentucky to Eugene and Edith (Tackett) McKenzie, she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. She was a 1963 graduate of Rowan County High School and was a veteran of the U.S Navy. Connie was owner/operator of her own beauty salon in Shelby for several years. She then received her LPN Nursing degree from North Central State College and was employed with Mansfield General Hospital and various nursing homes.
She lived her life as a Christian and upheld strong moral beliefs.
Connie enjoyed eating out and keeping in touch with her close friends. She loved spending time with her family and looked forward to being together with them at the holidays.
Surviving are her son Shannon Holland of Shelby and her daughter Kim Holland of Shelby; four grandchildren Ericka (Steve) Putnam, Tyson Holland, Courtney (Kyle) Waffen and Ty Schrader; five great grandchildren, Ava Putnam, Chloe, Claire and Kolton Waffen, and Anna Belle Schrader; two brothers Barry (Shelly) McKenzie of Shelby and Roger McKenzie of Frenchburg, KY.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Cleo Cox in 2003, her former husband, Larry "Bill" Holland in 2005 and her son Larry Holland in 1999.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Pastor Doug Tackett will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
