Courtney Nichole Stairs

Courtney Nichole Stairs, age 33, died Thursday March 8, 2018 at the Ohio Health Shelby Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Born July 10, 1984 in Clearwater, FL to David and Dorothy (Wellman) Bentley, she had been a resident of Portsmouth, OH before moving to Shelby in 2002.  Courtney was a 2002 graduate of Minford High School and was a stay at home mom.

She had attended the Mansfield First Assembly of God and as a child was a member of the Rainbow Girls.  Courtney had enjoyed texting and most of all she loved animals, especially her two cats; Gizmo and Luna; three dogs Daisy, Samson and Yogi and her guinea pig Wilbur.

Courtney is survived by her husband Kevin Stairs, whom she wed May 27, 2005; three children Kaleb, Catelyn and Kaylee Stairs; parents David (Dorothy) Bentley of Mansfield; two brothers David Bentley, Jr. and Michael Bentley both of Mansfield; maternal grandparents Jim (Jacqueline) Hamilton and paternal grandparents John (Mary) Arnett all of Portsmouth, father-in-law Dan Stairs of Shelby; mother-in-law Ruby (Bill) Long of Plymouth; sister-in-law Cassandra Stairs of Shelby; brother-in-law Chris (Afina) Stairs of Toledo; grandparent-in-laws Jerry (Mary) Stairs of Shelby; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Renzo Bentley and grandparents-in-law Naomi Scott and John Cole.

Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Reverend Terry Garrett and Lorenzo Bentley will officiate. A graveside service will follow at a later date.
