Donald Francis Fry

Donald Francis Fry Sr. age 83, of Shelby died Saturday evening October 21, 2017 at Signature Health Care in Galion. 

Born April 30, 1934 in Shelby to Francis & Eleanor (Kimmel) Fry, he has been a Shelby resident his entire life. A graduate of Shelby High School Donald served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Donald had worked and  retired from AK Steel in Mansfield and enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, bird watching, raising pigeons and spending time with his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his son, Donald Fry Jr. of Shelby; two grandchildren, Jolene (Adam) Arms, Danelle Foster; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alissa, Alania, Aydan, Kaylie, Waylon and Nelson; two brothers, Carl (Maria) Fry of Defiance and James Fry of Canal Fulton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Janet Fry on May 26, 2017; son, Daniel Fry; sister, Dorothy Kelly and brother, Eugene Fry.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment held in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery where military services will be provided by the Richland Country Joint Veterans Burial Detail.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to  Hospice of North Central Ohio.
