Donna Coleman

Donna J. Coleman, age 92, long term resident of Shelby, and most recently at the Conard House assisted living in Mansfield, Ohio died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Ohio Health Hospital in Mansfield.

Born June 21, 1925 in Mansfield, Ohio to Wade and Edith (Hoffman) Boyce she had been a Shelby resident since 1944. Donna was a 1943 graduate of Mansfield Sr. High School. On October 4, 1943, she married Eugene C. "Gene" Coleman who preceded her in death on January 19, 1994.

Donna was employed with the former Wilkins Air Force Depot, Shelby Mutual Insurance Co., Lumberman Insurance Co. and retired in 1985 from the State of Ohio Liquor Department.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a former member of the Shelby Country Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Donna enjoyed genealogy, cryptograms, crossword puzzles, bowling and golfing and had golfed in the Shelby Country Club's Husband and Wife League and Women's League for many years. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and made numerous afghans, ponchos, sweaters, and doll clothes. 

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Shirley (Kit) Keiser of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Janice Boyce of Conyers, Georgia; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Edison Boyce and Charles Wesley Boyce and infant sister, Beverly Ann Boyce.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby.   Dr. Reverend Edna Stahl will officiate the service and Donna will be laid to rest at a later time in Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, an hour prior to the service, Thursday. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church at 209 E Main St, Shelby, OH 44875.
