Edwin Howard Pfahler, age 88, died Thursday evening May 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 17, 1929 in Tiro to Wester & Laura Mae (Swartz) Pfahler, he had been a Shelby resident before moving to Mansfield in 1982.
Ed served in the U.S. Air Force and also served five years with the 164th Fighter Squadron in Mansfield. He had been employed with General Motors and AMF Inc. Ed was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Mansfield, was a longtime member of the Mansfield Evening Lions Club and had been an actor with the Blackfork Players and also sang with the Fun Center Chordsmen. In his younger years he had pitched with a semi pro baseball team and was credited with pitching three no hitter games. He enjoyed traveling, camping and playing golf with the Shelby Romeo's Group.
He is survived by his wife, Anne T. (Peyssard) Pfahler, whom he married September 2, 1950; his children, Brian Pfahler of Fontana, CA; Marla Beal (fiancè, Gary Hennie) of Lodi, OH; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Stephanie), Zachary (Jessica) and London Pfahler and Jason (Misti) and Jessica (Alex) Morgan; great grandchildren, Connor, Bailey and Arya; one brother, John Pfahler of Bucyrus and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Edward Pfahler, brother, Kenneth Pfahler; daughter-in-law, Terri Pfahler and granddaughter, Brooke Pfahler.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday May 14, 2018 from 5-7 PM. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM conducted by Fr. Austin Ammanniti and Pastor Dave Purdy. Military honors will be provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail following the memorial service.
