Harriett Saunders

Harriett Saunders, age 81, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at her home in New Carlisle, OH. 

Born April 26, 1937 in Prestonsburg, KY to Johnny and Gladys (Cooly) Gayheart, she had been a resident of New Carlisle for the past 13 years. Harriett was part owner and worked at Saunders & Son swimming pools Co., which was a family owned business, for 30 years managing the day to day business operations, orders,  book keeping and so much more. She kept the place running like a fine oiled machine. 

Harriett was a member of the Mansfield Faith Assembly Church and enjoyed reading, rose gardening, mowing the grass, sewing, playing cards and winning, fishing, collecting tea pots, going to flea markets, refinishing old furniture, and collecting antiques. She also loved to clean her pool and have all of family come and enjoy it with her. Everyone had so many fond memories of Aunt Harriett and Uncle Charlie, they were special and a fun place to be. 

She is survived by her daughter Tonya (Bob) Cosgrove of New Carlisle, Ohio; three grandsons, Travis (Kristina) Saunders, Sean (Nicole) Cosgrove and P.J. (Chelsea) Cosgrove; two granddaughters Andrea Cosgrove, Amber (Pat) Martin; three great grandchildren Nash, Jordan, and Chase; two brothers Lowell (Pat) Gayheart, Roger (Mary) Gayheart; one sister Georgia (Ken) Barnett; three sister-in-laws Blonda, Evelyn and Blanche Gayheart; numerous nieces nephews and other relatives. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Saunders in 2016; son Doug Saunders, three brothers Vaughn , Edward , and Forest Gayheart, two sisters Jackie (Harley) Hoover, Buncie Jo (Paul) Burdge. 

The family would like to extend their thanks to Hospice of the Miami Valley, and Judy Livingston of United Senior Services for their generous care toward Harriett during this time.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Mansfield Faith Assembly, 2727 Lexington Ave., Mansfield, OH. 44904. Reverend Trina Peery will officiate with interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.  
After the funeral service there will be a meal provided for family and friends after the graveside service back at the fellowship hall for family and friends. Please come and be with the family and show your love and support at their time of need.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made in the form of donations to the Cosgrove family to be used to honor Harriett's memory in a very special way.
