Henrietta Miller-Grove Obituary

Henrietta Miller-Grove age 85, died Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Willows of Willard Nursing Home.

Born in Larchwood, Iowa on June 1, 1932 to William John and Jeanette (Van Bemmel) Petersen, she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life.

Henrietta graduated from Shelby High School in 1950.  She retired from Shelby Insurance Company in 1994 after 32 years and volunteered for the Salvation Army for many years after her retirement. Henrietta was passionate about volunteering and helping people. She had been awarded the Jess Rath Christian Volunteer Service award from the Shelby Help Line Ministries in February of 2015. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and most of all she loved her family.

Surviving are her two sons & daughters-in-law, Tom (Amy) Miller of Plymouth and Doug (Jan) Miller of Sugarcreek; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Tom) Dove of Gahanna; ten grandchildren, Mike Dove, Sarah (Jarod Ogier) Dove, Stacy Dove, Abby Miller, Eric Miller, Molly (Cory) Branham, Craig Miller, Jeremiah (Kayla) Miller, Gregory (Katie) Miller, Thomas Miller; five great-grandchildren, Paisley, Emerson, Tucker, and Jasper Miller and Quinn Branham; one brother Bernard (Alberta) Petersen of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Jane Sharpless of Willard, Jeanette Lems of Doon, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas E. Miller in 1989, second husband Roger D. Grove in 2012; one son, David Miller and one sister, Marie Champion; two brothers John and Henry Petersen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, February 23, 2018 from the First Baptist Church at 185 S Gamble St, in Shelby with Reverend Walter Keib and her Son-in-law Tom Dove officiating.  Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM
