Holly Brown

Holly Brown Jr. age 84, resident of Shelby, peacefully went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Country Meadows in Bellville, OH in the presence of family.
He was born on January 10, 1933 to Holly Sr. and Mattie (Wallace) Brown. Holly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War (1952-1956). After over 40 years contributing to the company’s performance receiving recognition and reward several times, Holly retired from General Motors. Holly’s hobbies included all things outdoors. As a member of both The American Coon Hunters Association and Huron Valley Coon Hunters, Holly earned titles such as World Nite Champion of the United Kennel Club. On an average day, Holly could be found tending to the animals on his farm, chopping wood, or drinking coffee with family and loved ones. Holly will be remembered as a hard-working man who loved his family. His jokes were always worth waiting for the punchline just to see the smirk spread across his face. With his own hands he built the home where so many memories will be forever cherished and continue to be made.
      He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Landis) Brown of 60 years, whom he wed December 22, 1956; daughters, Theresa (Mike) Horvath of Mansfield, Holly Copley of Shelby, Keri Brown of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Rachael (Bryan) of Austin, TX, Keely (Phil) of Tiro, Lara (Andrew) of Sunbury; great-grandchildren, Christian, Austin, Collin, Katelyn, Kennedy, and Presley; brothers, Granville (Luena) Brown, Wavel (Irene) Brown, Darrell (Donna) Brown, and Linville (Paulene) Brown, and sister, Bonnie York. He is preceded in death by sisters, Gwendolyn Reed and Lillian Bowman and nephew, Tracey Brown.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory. Pastor Kevin Evans will officiate. Interment will be Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in Little London Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Friends may call at the Barkdull funeral home in Shelby Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
