Jack L. Payne age 91, resident of Shelby, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at home.
Born April 26, 1927 in Shelby Ohio to Harry and Edith (Beck) Payne, he had been a life long Shelby resident. A graduate of Shelby High School, Jack had served in the United States army during WWII. He later had worked for Columbia Gas as a warehouse clerk, until his retirement in 1991.
Jack had enjoyed building model airplanes, hunting and fishing, and loved to watch all Ohio sports teams.
He is survived by his son Mick (Mary) Payne of Daytona Beach, FL, daughter Vicky D. (John) Walker of Shelby;five grandchildren, Adam (Lyndsay) Payne, Kelsey Payne, Andrew E. (Jennifer) Roe, Sharlet Roe and Courtney Detry; five great grandchildren Levi Payne, Cierra Mast, Briley Mast, Calin Cleapor, Mieka Stidam, Molly Roe; one great grandson on the way, Ethan Roe; and one brother Roger D. (Patsy) Payne of Ontario.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris E. Payne; son David L. Payne; his twin of 3 days old, Janet; and his sister Gloria Noffsinger.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM. Pastor Danny Akers of the Victory Rock Praise & Worship Center will officiate with interment held in Oakland Cemetery.
