James H. Maynard, age 78, a resident of 318 W Pearl St., Willard Ohio died Tuesday July 30, 2019 at the home of his son, James.
Born August 12, 1940 in Lando Mines, Mingo County, West Virginia to Clyde Ralph and Trula (Hess) Maynard, he had been a Shelby resident for the majority of his life moving to West Milton, OH in 2004. He recently moved to Willard to be in the care of his son. In his younger years, he worked as a helper on a sanitation truck then was later employed with MYCA Metal Products, General Motors and Swisher Sawmill where he retired in 1996. James enjoyed playing and watching baseball and teaching baseball skills to young children. Most of all he loved his family and looked forward to family get togethers.
Survivors include his son, James Michael Maynard and his girlfriend Kellie Shepherd of Willard; two grandchildren, Ashton Lee Michael Hutson and Trent Allen Hutson; two brothers, Doug Maynard of Mansfield and Charles Maynard of Medina, OH.; numerous nieces, nephews and very close friend and neighbor, Leon Cremeans of West Milton,OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; Harley Hess, Bill, Clyde, Roy and Ted Maynard; four sisters, Ruth "Betty" Hensley, Frances Dunkin, Alice Jordan and Wanda Bittinger.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, August 2, 2019 at Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby. Reverend Tim Hall will officiate with interment in Crawford County Memorial Gardens in Crestline, OH. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
