Lionel Ebersole Obituary

Lionel D. Ebersole age 83, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Crystal Care Nursing home in Mansfield.

Born June 17, 1935 in Tiro, Ohio to E. Marion and Fannie (Frank) Ebersole. Lionel had been a lifelong area resident. He was a 1953 graduate of Shelby Senior High School. Following graduation, he began his career of 47 years in the trucking industry. He started with an entry level position and advanced to terminal manager. Lionel retired in 1994. In his early years he attended the United Church of Christ in Shelby and made sure his "7 little ones" were sitting in the pew with him. In his later years, he became a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was active in many ministries.

Lionel enjoyed keeping in contact with classmates at their monthly luncheons and loved watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He had a passion for baseball and coached Little League for many years. Lionel was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and traveled locally and regionally to watch his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. He was extremely proud of them and loved them dearly. He also enjoyed camping and many will remember their camping trips with Grandpa.

He is survived by his wife Janet (Copeland) Ebersole, whom he wed April 12, 1980; seven children Rodney Ebersole of Shelby, David (Debbie) Ebersole of Mansfield, Michael Ebersole of Bloomville, Emily (David) Knipp of Lucas, Douglas Ebersole of West Jefferson, Daniel (Michelle) Ebersole of Shelby, Laurie (Scott) Storch of Delaware; three step-children Debra Graham of GA, David Jarrell of Maryland and Rebecca (Gary) Brittenham of Toledo; 25 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one sister Rosemary (Tom) Wilkinson of Shelby; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Buck, brother Bob Bland, father-in-law and mother-in-law, son-in-law; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
