Madeline Frankl Obituary

Madeline M Frankl, age 92, of Shelby, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at her home surrounded by her children.

Madeline was born April 19, 1925 in Shelby to William J and Bertha E (Fisher) Coleman.  She was a 1943 graduate of Shelby Senior High School and a 1947 graduate of Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Cincinnati.  She married her late husband, Henry “Heinz” Frankl in 1950.  In addition to raising thirteen children, she worked at the Shelby Memorial Hospital and the office of John McHugh M.D. retiring in 1987.  A life-long member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, she sang in the choir, was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and volunteered countless hours to both the Church and St. Mary’s School.  She was a member of the Shelby Nurses Club and the Catholic Nurses Association of Mansfield.

Survivors include eleven children: Marjorie Skorvonek of Columbus; Doreen Ebert (Bruce) of Columbus; Pamela Carver of Apple Valley, CA; Michael Frankl of Mansfield; Henry “Hank” Frankl of Columbus; Brian (Julie) Frankl of Shelby; Anna (Tom) Sprout of Columbus; Eric (Linda) Frankl of Lexington, KY; Carol (Kevin) Deisering of Columbus; Annette Frankl of Tucson, AZ; Bernadette (Dave) Varnes of Chesapeake, VA.; twenty-one grandchildren: Melissa, Bernie, Jennifer, Katie, Jenny, Sarah, Matt, Dewey, Cassie, Nick, Mike, Maggie, Michael, Teddy, Zach, Travis, John, Kevin, Marissa, Courtney, Brittany, Donovan, Jake, Logan, Ana, Alex, Hannah, and David; eleven great grandchildren: Emma, Mattie, Aubrey, Charlie, Luke, Jackson, Sophie, John, Charlie, Luke, and Mark; siblings: Clara Mahler, Paul (Marian) Coleman, Jeanne Panuncialman, Joe Prada (brother-in-law), and Marilyn Coleman (sister-in-law); many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Annie, Darlene, and Donna.

In addition to her parents and husband, Madeline is preceded in death by her son, Patrick (1991) and daughter Rose “Rorie” Roeske (2000); siblings: Sr. Mary Electa Coleman, H.M; Fr. William Jack Coleman, M.M.; Sr. Veronica Coleman, H.M.; Rosemary Coleman, Margaret (Russ) Shelton; Jerome Coleman; Francis Coleman; Agnes Prada; Robert Mahler (brother-in-law); Robert Panuncialman (brother-in-law); MaryAnn Coleman (sister-in-law).

Funeral mass will be celebrated at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:30 AM.  Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s School at 26 West St, Shelby, OH 44875 or to Ohio Health Hospice at 335 Glessner Ave, Mansfield, OH 44903 in Madeline’s name.
