Mildred Joyce Rinehart

M. Joyce Rinehart, age 84, of Shelby passed away Friday, January 5, 2017 at Crestwood Care Center.

Born July 26, 1933 in Shelby to Rubin and Jessie (McLaughlin) Moon she had been a lifelong Shelby-Shiloh area resident. A 1952 graduate of Shelby High School she worked at the Shelby Country Club before her marriage to George Rinehart on April 18, 1953. She became a homemaker staying home to raise their four children and then worked in the bakery at Cornell's IGA.

Joyce was a member of the Ganges Church of Christ, member of the American Legion #503 Ladies Auxiliary and past matron of the Eastern Star Shiloh Chapter. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed embroidery and loved to can fruits and vegetables from their garden for her family.

She is survived by her four children, Pamela (Mike) Saunders of Sellersburg, Indiana, Michael (Renee) Rinehart of Shelby, Beth (Joe) La Geose of Peru, Indiana and Patrick (Laurie) Rinehart of Shelby; five grandchildren, Jason, Tiffany, Bryan, Myles and Haley; eight great-grandchildren, Felicia, Carter, Jayda, Karley, Wrigley, Milva-George, Claire and Ruby; one sister, Sara Reeder of New London, Ohio; nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Rinehart and her three siblings, Phyllis Gwinner, Burton Moon and Alice Adams.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Reverend Ronald Carey will officiate with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday.
