Ricky D. Hicks

Ricky D. Hicks, age 59, resident of Shelby, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at Ohio Health Hospital in Shelby.

Born October 12, 1957 in Shelby to Marshall and Ethel (Shephard) Hicks, he had spent the last 18 years in Florida before moving back to Shelby in March.  A 1976 Shelby High School graduate, Ricky had then received his certificate as an electrician from North Central Technical College in 1978. 

He was a member of the NRA, and was an avid outdoorsman.  Ricky enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and photography.  He also took pleasure in programming and building computers.  

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his three sisters Bri Anna (Rex) Coon of Sarasota, FL, Sheila (Ryan Lancaster) Wenninger of Green, OH, Lori Sexton of Shelby, three nieces and three nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; five uncles and five aunts.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Reverend Doug Tackett of the Taylor Town Community Church will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA  22215 or the Kidney Foundation at 2831 Prospect Ave., Cleveland, OH 44115.
