Susan Franklin

Susan J. Franklin, age 66, resident of Plymouth passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Ohio Health Mansfield.

Born October 25, 1951 in Shelby to Kenneth B. and Mary Jane (Cashman) Burrer, she had been a local resident all of her life.  A 1969 graduate of Plymouth High School, she attended Pioneer Joint Vocational School as well as Mansfield Business College. Susan worked at Miami Systems, Dr. Padival's office, Cornell's IGA in the bakery and did child care out of her home for 12 years.  She was a member of the ABC Guidance League for many years. During her lifetime she enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards and taking care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Jane Burrer of Ganges, four children, Amy (Ernie) Wells of Willard, Chad (Evelyn) Franklin of Shelby, Jodi Franklin of Plymouth and Eric Franklin of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Allison and Dylan Franklin, Haley and Blake Felty, Kevin Franklin, Kendyll Tolbert and Kayonna Franklin; four brothers, Kenneth (Charlene) Burrer, Jr. of Shiloh; Mark (Pat) Burrer of Shelby; Samuel (Martha) Burrer of Willard; Jeffrey (Laura) Burrer of Shelby; her special friend Maurice Baker Jr.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her father Kenneth, she was preceded in death in 2007 by her husband, Alton Franklin, whom she married October 14, 1972, and son Kevin Ray Franklin in 1982.

Private graveside services will be held in Oakland Cemetery with Dan Gates of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.  At Susan's request, there will be no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial expressions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation 411 Hackensack Avenue Hackensack, New Jersey 07601.
