Alan M. Kaylor, age 66, of Shelby, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Born June 23, 1960, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to David M. and Judith A. (Thatcher) Kaylor, Alan had spent his childhood in Tiro, moving to Shelby in 1984. A 1978 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and Pioneer Career and Technical School, where he studied Machine Trades, Alan dedicated more than 20 years of service to The Tuby before retiring in March 2026, just five months before his passing.

Retirement suited Alan perfectly, especially with his endless list of hobbies. When he wasn't volunteering as a 4-H Shooting Sports Advisor or serving on the safety and security team at North Woodbury Alliance Church, he was always tinkering. Whether he was in the garage working on one of his three-wheelers or motorcycles, or taking his beloved tractor out for a spin, Alan was happiest with a project to enjoy. And if you spent any time around him, you probably heard him proudly ask, "Did I ever tell you how much I love this tractor?"—every single time.

Alan also loved spending time fishing from his boats, hunting, and keeping an eye out for the next firearm he just had to add to his collection. As if those hobbies weren't enough, he later discovered a passion for collecting cast iron cookware and beekeeping. Alan truly never met a hobby he didn't enjoy.

As much as he loved his many interests, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. His daughters were his greatest pride and joy. Alan never missed one of their sporting events, even if it meant watching from a hidden corner so he wouldn't make them nervous. He treasured every opportunity to be with them, whether they were fiercely competing to build the best gingerbread house or sitting around the table for a game of Euchre.

As his daughters grew and pursued their dreams, Alan remained their biggest supporter. When Lynnette opened her coffee shop, he faithfully started each morning there, proudly crafting his own personalized latte—a simple tradition that meant the world to him and a quiet way of showing his love and encouragement. When Olivia launched her Lemon Shake Up trailer, he happily volunteered as her official taste tester, never passing up the chance to sample a new batch before she headed off to festivals and sporting events. Those ordinary moments of supporting his girls became some of the memories he treasured most.

In addition to his parents, David and Judy, Alan is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Teresa (Ginter) Kaylor, whom he married on June 16, 1984; his two daughters, Lynnette (Dustin) Shepherd of Tiro, Ohio, and Olivia (Zach) Neumann of Shelby, Ohio; five beloved grandchildren, Reagan, Wyatt, Avery, Porter, and Thatcher; his siblings, Janis (Randy) Howman of Crestline, Ohio, and Terry Kaylor of Tiro, Ohio; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him immensely.

He was preceded in death by his nephew Ben Gearhart in 2016.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the North Woodbury Alliance Church at 6385 St. Rt. 314, Mt. Gilead, OH 43338 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Pastor Cory Schnuerer will officiate the celebration of Alan's life immediately following at 4:00 PM.

In place of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Alan's memory to the North Woodbury Alliance Church.
