Alice B. Stamper, age 81, former Shelby resident died Saturday February 7, 2009 in Millcrest Nursing Center Marysville, Ohio following a short illness.
Born February 12, 1927 in Shelby to Carl E. and Marie E. (Stambaugh) Hartz
she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life. She had briefly resided in New York and had been residing in Marysville since 2003. She was a 1945 graduate of Shelby High School and served in the Airforce Army Air Corps during the Korean conflict. Alice was employed at Shelby United Telephone, First National Bank and Cornell's IGA and was a member of the former Union Grange. She enjoyed bowling, attending her monthly card club and traveling.
Survivors include three daughters Linda (Wayne) Gordon of Columbus, GA, Carla (Tom) Campbell of Loveland, Ohio and Candy (Jeff) Brown of Marysville; one stepson Frank (Marlene Roberts) Stamper of Shelby; four grandchildren Brad Gordon, Garth Whitaker, Blaine and Logan Brown; and one brother Nick Hartz of Marysville.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Frank Stamper in 2007; one sister, Geneva May and two brothers, John and Maurice Hartz.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday February 11, 2009 from Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Pastor Mark Meyer, Sr. with the Grace Point Sanctuary will officiate with interment to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, with military honors provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
