Amy Lou (Anderson) Bartosiak, age 70, a lifelong Shelby resident, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family following a courageous battle with Small Cell Neuroendrocrine Carcinoma Cancer.
Amy was born on September 20, 1956, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late James Daniel and Doris Virginia (Robb) Anderson. A proud 1974 graduate of Shelby High School, Amy remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life. She worked as an insurance underwriter for 23 years at Shelby Mutual Insurance Company until her retirement.
Amy was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Shelby and a proud Whippet who enjoyed supporting Shelby athletics. She was involved with the Shelby Athletic Boosters and took great pride in following the teams and athletes in her community. Above all, Amy loved her family and took great joy in being part of their lives.
One of Amy’s greatest joys was watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She made it a priority to attend their games, matches, and events whenever she could, always eager to cheer them on. Even after her family’s playing days had ended, Amy continued to follow Shelby athletics and remained a loyal Whippet fan.
In her free time, Amy enjoyed working on puzzles, particularly word jumbles and crosswords, and trying her hand at cryptoquotes. She was also a devoted fan of Days of Our Lives, a show she faithfully followed for years. And if you knew Amy, you probably knew about her love of Kohl’s Cash and her appreciation for a good deal.
Amy also enjoyed taking leisurely drives to Lake Erie with her beloved husband, Alan “Al” Bartosiak. These trips gave them time to enjoy the scenery and each other’s company.
Amy will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to Shelby athletics, and the simple pleasures she enjoyed throughout her life. Whether cheering from the stands, working on a puzzle, keeping up with her favorite soap opera, or taking a drive to the lake with Al, Amy found joy in the things she loved and the people she shared them with.
She had a way of putting others before herself. She was selfless, kindhearted, and had a wonderful sense of humor. The nursing staff at her appointments even came to know her as “Giggles,” a fitting nickname for someone who could find a reason to laugh. Even during the most difficult times, Amy remained positive and rarely complained. Her strength, humor, and thoughtfulness were a reflection of the person she was and the love she had for those around her.
Amy is survived by her loving husband, Alan Chester Bartosiak, children, Aric (Kenda) Cornette of Shelby and Abbey (Quentin) Ison of Powell, Ohio; grandchildren, Anderson Jake (AJ) and Adelynn Cornette, and James Daniel Alan (JD) Ison; siblings, Mike (Cathy) Anderson of Shiloh, Ohio and Jim "Scoot" (Natalie) Anderson of Ashland, Ohio, and sisters-in-law, Diane (Dave) Martinez of Shelby and Sharon Horvath of South Bend, Indiana, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her aunts Julie Beech and Jane Anderson and brothers-in-law Ronald Bartosiak and Ron Horvath.
Friends and family are welcome to visit at the Barkdull Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 PM with Reverend David Sipes officiating. A graveside service will take place at 2:30 PM Thursday, October 29th at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Amy's memory to the Shelby Athletic Boosters in care of Cathy Dodge at 145 Mansfield Ave. Apt 7, Shelby, OH 44875 or the Amedisy's Hospice at at 41 Briggs Dr. Unit 3, Ontario, Ohio 44906.
