Arlene L. Harrer, age 80, resident of Morningside Dr., Shelby, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in Triumph Hospital of Mansfield.
Born June 30, 1926 in Plymouth, Ohio to Floyd and Clara (Trauger) Steele, she had been a Chatfield-Shelby area resident the majority her life. Mrs. Harrer graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944 and retired from the Buckeye Central School System where she was employed as a secretary/librarian. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Shelby.
Arlene's life centered around her family. She enjoyed the time spent with her children and grandchildren, sisters and friends.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law; Marna and Dave Utz, and Vicky and Charles Shealy, all of Shelby, and Judy Harrer of Davenport, IA; two grandchildren, Brad Shealy of Mansfield and Abby Shealy of Escondido, CA; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Mae Miller, of Westerville, Marilyn Gullett, of Plymouth, and Jessie Dorion, of Columbus; two brothers, Lewis Steele, of Mansfield and Denton Steele, of New Mexico; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd "Flip" Harrer; one brother, Wilbur Steele; and one sister, Margaret Kessler.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, June 23, 2007 from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Leonard J. Shatkus, Jr. will officiate with interment in Nazareth Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chatfield, OH. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
