Beatrice Frietchen, age 79, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away peacefully at her son's home in Crestline, Ohio.

Beatrice was born May 26, 1947, in Shelby, Ohio, to Adaline (Fichter) Johnson, who passed away on June 29, 2008, and William R. Johnson, who passed away on May 1, 1971. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1966. Following graduation, she married Robert C. Frietchen and together, they worked side by side for more than three decades in Robert’s trailer manufacturing business.

Beatrice was a devout Christian and had been a previous member of First United Baptist Church in Shelby. For many years, she took great pride in teaching Sunday School at Mansfield Bible Church. She had a special love for owls and enjoyed collecting anything and everything related to them. Beatrice was also a wonderful cook, and she especially cherished opportunities to gather with her family and share her culinary talents with those she loved. More than anything, Beatrice loved her family and was a devoted and loving mother.

She is survived by her two sons, David Frietchen of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Daniel Frietchen of Crestline, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert C. Frietchen, July 12, 2009; three brothers; her cousins, Jan and Jerry Fichter; and her aunt, Betty Smith.

Friends may visit the family at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM. Pastor David Parsons will officiate with interment at Oakland Cemetery.

In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
