Bryan Maynard, age 54, died Saturday January 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 27, 1960 in Cincinnati to Joseph and Elva (Sanders) Maynard he had been a Shelby resident since 2008. He was a 1979 graduate of Deer Park High school and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was employed with Chicago Bridge and Iron Company as an environmental construction manager working all across the United States for thirty years before retiring due to health concerns.
Though Bryan worked 15 hour days and six days a week, he loved spending time with his wife and children every spare moment he had. Bryan enjoyed working on and riding his Harley Davidson, history and collecting Pete Rose memorabilia, as well as coins. He had a strong interest in nature, especially birds and wildlife. His dream was to build a cabin and live in the wilds of Alaska.
He is survived by his wife Andrea (Bailey) Maynard, whom he wed December 5, 1998, daughter Ali Bailey Maynard, and son Johnny Bowen Maynard both at home; his mother who raised him, Patricia (Feller) Maynard of Milford, OH., his brothers and sisters Gwen Maynard of Ohio, Gini (Mike) Geyman of Cincinnati, Vincent (Judy) Maynard of FL., Angel Valli of N. Carolina, Mark Maynard of Batavia, OH., James (Melanie) Holle of Colorado, Sharon (Tom) Wallace of Georgia, Daniel (Cindy) Holle of Connecticut, Frank (Diane) Holle of Cincinnati, Holly (Jim) Wombles of Kentucky, David Gasnik of Cincinnati, Shannon Shearer of Mason, Martha Gregory (Marshall) Wolfe West Chester, Chris (Christy) Randall, Courtney (Nicole) Kain, April (D.) Roberts numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his birth parents Joseph and Elva Maynard, brothers-in-law Jim Valli and Stephen Meranda, aunt Opal Maynard Bowen and uncle Bill King.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday January 7, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Jimmy Bailey and Pastors Kevin Evans and Rick Lewis will officiate. Friends may call at the Funeral Home Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
The family asks that anyone visiting the funeral home bring a small colored rock, or glass gem, where there will be a basket for collection. The stones will be divided between both children and taken on vacation, so they both can leave a stone for their daddy.
