Carol Irene Perry, age 90, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 21, 1935 in Enterprise, West Virginia, to Orrville Lee and Lillian Irene (Shelton) Long, she was a resident of LaGrange, Kentucky since 1982. She was employed as an Inmate Canteen manager at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex for ten years before retiring in 1995.

Carol, lovingly known by most as NAN, was a member of the Ballardsville Baptist Church in Kentucky, and enjoyed reading and watching hummingbirds. With her green thumb, she enjoyed gardening and canning. Most of all, Carol loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; Tina L. Henson (Edgar Goodlett) of LaGrange, Kentucky, April L. Perry of Simpsonville, Kentucky, and her step-daughter Susan L. Brown of Morehead, Kentucky; her grandchildren: Ashleigh Sams (Brandon), Nathan Johnson (Kerrigan), and Michael Russett; her great grandchildren: Jackson, Logan and Colter Sams, and Wrenlie Johnson and several step grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved and long awaiting husband Nathaniel S. Perry in 1992, whom she wed on June 4, 1959; and six siblings; Leroy Long, Pauline Martin, Harry A. Long, Kenneth Long, Beulah Hardesty, and Lora Craig.

Friends may visit the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025. A funeral service will take place the following day, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM with Daniel Johnson officiating. An interment will follow the funeral service at Oakland Cemetery.
