Christopher R. Metzger, age 51, resident of Shelby, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in MedCentral/Shelby Hospital following an unexpected illness.
Born January 22, 1960 in Shelby to Raymond and Mary (Yetzer) Metzger he had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1978 graduate of Buckeye Central High School, he worked as a machinist and was formerly employed with Gorman Rupp Industries.
He was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Historical Construction Equipment Assoc. (HCEA). Chris enjoyed reading and spending time at his home in his machine shop.
He survived by his mother, Mary E. Metzger of Shelby; two sisters, Marcia (Douglas) Siesel of Troy, Michigan and Ann (John) Akers of Ashland; nephew and niece, Kevin and Lindsay Siesel; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, on August 16, 2000.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Nicholas Cunningham will officiate with interment in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM where a scripture service will be held at 7:45 PM.
