Connie Strine Obituary Connie L. Strine, age 87, resident of Orient, Ohio, passed away in her home, Monday, November 11, 2024.
Born April 19, 1937, in Findlay, Ohio to Paul and Ruth (Groth) Pruitt she had been a Shelby resident since 1958. A 1955 graduate of Findlay High School, she attended Mercy Hospital Nurses Training in Springfield, Ohio. Connie was a licensed practical nurse working for the majority of her career at the Mid-Ohio Heart Clinic in Mansfield.
She was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She served on the Shelby Home & Public Health Advisor Board, Shelby City Council, American Heart Association Board and was instrumental in starting the Prescription Assistance Program where she also volunteered.
Connie enjoyed knitting and made numerous prayer shawls. She also enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, and watching Notre Dame football. A passion for travel, she especially loved her trips to Ireland and wintering in Orange Beach, Alabama. She looked forward to spending time at Lake Erie, catching the biggest fish, on her and her husband Ron's Boat, the 'Irish C'. In recent years Connie spent time outdoors on the farm, taking care of the animals and feeding the horse, Ruby, apples. Though her greatest love was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Ron (Anne) Strine of Glen Allen, Virginia, Annette Bevelhymer of Orient, Ohio and Donnie (Mary) Strine of Medina; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, William Pruitt of Grove City, OH, Brenda Amato of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, whom she wed October 11, 1958, Ronald Strine; daughter Lisette Fisher; son-in-law Roger Bevelhymer; grandson, Timothy Bevelhymer; two brothers John and Gene Pruitt.
Friends may visit the family at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. A celebration of Connie's life will immediately follow at 3:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, at 10:30 AM at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Father Michael Watson will officiate with interment in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
