Darlene Grew Obituary Darlene Grew, age 77, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at OhioHealth Shelby Hospital. Born on August 30, 1943 to Lester and Icey (Wallace) Brown in Morehead, Kentucky. Darlene attended North Central State College in Mansfield where she received her Associate's Degree in Nursing. She was employed with MedCentral Shelby Hospital and also worked for many years as an in home private care nurse. Darlene loved being outside whether she was canning vegetables from her garden, working in her flower beds, or fishing. But more than anything, Darlene loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her two brothers, Steve Brown and Gary Brown of Shelby; six sisters, Jeanetta Muse of Flemingsburg, KY, Roberta Gayheart of Shelby, Brenda Backenstow of Shelby, Tammy (Floyd) Sexton of Shelby, and Tonya Laser of Shelby; and many nieces, nephews. and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Leonard Grew, her brother Lanny Brown, and sisters Charlotte Gayheart, Donna Reynolds and her infant sister Phyllis Brown. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Friday, June 18, 2021 from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 1:00PM.
