David M. "Digger" Armstrong, age 58, died unexpectedly Monday morning, February 23, 2015, at his home in Shelby. Born December 24, 1956 in Mansfield to Roma and Katherine (Brown) Armstrong the majority of his life was spent in the Mansfield area moving to Shelby in 2010. A 1975 graduate of Lexington High School, he had worked as a landscaper for many years and was formerly employed with Mansfield Cemetery, Holcher's Company of Lexington and was currently employed with Dealers Supply Company in Crestline. David was a member of several social clubs in the Mansfield-Shelby area. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, especially deer and watching car racing and John Wayne movies. He also enjoyed following The Ohio State Buckeyes. David will be remembered as a hard worker and a good friend to all. Surviving are his two sisters, Virginia (Robert) Arnold of Shelby and Linda Armstrong (fiance, John Hristovski) of Mansfield, two brothers, Owen Armstrong of Daytona Beach, FL and Larry Armstrong of Mansfield; his nieces, Cindy Kovack, Melanie Collins Thacker, Stephanie Snyder, and Michelle Webb, his nephews, Leslie Bucy and Eddie Kurtich, other relatives and many friends, including special friend, Kevin Kirsh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Miller. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Rev. S.T. Adkins will officiate with interment in Shauck Cemetery, Johnsville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
