David A. Cline, age 75, son of the late Ollie and Margaret (Swanger) Cline of Shelby, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Born March 22, 1939 in Shelby, he lived in Shelby for the majority of his life. Dave loved working on anything mechanical and used that enthusiasm to its fullest working with his father at Cline Excavating, of which he was co-owner. He also worked at both the Shelby and Crestline police departments. Gifted with a great sense of humor and always ready with a one-liner, he enjoyed cars, guns, old motorcycles, and tractors. Dave served in the US Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie (Wondrash) Cline; his children, Allan Cline, Jeffrey (Diann) Cline, Scott (Jessalynn) Bryant, Tracy Franklin (Andre Cochran), and Barry Cline (Karissa Gibson); grandchildren, Shelby Cline, Makayla Cline, James Smith II, Tresten Archer, Amaria Cameron, Madeline Biedrzycki; special friend, James "Rowdy" Auer; brother, Ronald Cline; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby Monday, October 13, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Military honors will be provided by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will not be observed. Memorial expressions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
