Dennis Curry Obituary Dennis Paul Curry, age 83, left his earthly home to join his beloved wife Linda so they could continue their cherished travels together. Dennis passed away Sunday morning, March 9, 2025 at the Brethren Care Village in Ashland.
Born August 18, 1941, in Shelby, Ohio to Paul and June (Dennis) Curry, he had been a Shelby resident for the majority of his life. A 1959 graduate of Shelby High School, he then attended Duke University in North Carolina, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Sciences. After graduation, he worked as a field rep for the Shelby Mutual Insurance company for numerous years before being promoted to the VP of Marketing. He was part owner of Adams, Albert and Curry Agency where he was an insurance agent from 1990-2008.
Denny married the love of his life, Linda (Kaylor) Curry in 1967. They then moved to Charlotte, NC where their four children were born. In 1975 they moved back to Shelby to raise their family.
He was a member of numerous organizations in Shelby, such as, the Shelby Ad Club, Kiwanis, United Fund of Shelby, and a previous board member of the Shelby Foundation. An avid golfer, he was also a member of Shelby Country Club, where he hit his only hole-in-one on hole 17.
Denny thoroughly enjoyed traveling nationally and internationally, spending time with family at their home on Lake Erie and reading a good book. He was also a devoted Duke basketball fan.
He had a fantastic sense of humor and will be remembered for his trademark crazy socks and mismatched shoelaces. Most of all he loved his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Suzanne (Kevin) Medved of Norwalk, OH, Stephanie (Trent) Cailor of Boardman, OH, Sheila (Dave) Gagnon of Tipp City, OH and Steve Curry of Shelby, OH, eight grandchildren, Alexis, Dillon and Carter Cailor, Nathan, Emma and Andrew Gagnon, and Jillian and Jackson Curry, as well as many other relatives who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Curry in 2021,
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM. Pastor Ben Carver will officiate with interment following at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
