Obituary

Dominic Hancock Obituary Dominic Ray Hancock of Nova, Ohio, died unexpectedly at Ohio Health Mansfield on February 8, 2025, at the age of 45. Affectionately known as Dom by his family and many friends, he was able to fix or build most anything. His sarcastic wit and trademark stubbornness will not be soon forgotten. He was born on April 21, 1979, at Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelby, Ohio. Dom was a graduate of Shelby High School. He was the middle child of Michael and Kim Hancock. His mother preceded him in death in 2008. He leaves behind a son who he loved dearly Lane Curtis Ray Hancock, father Michael, older sister Brandi (Eric) Yund, younger brother Anthony, and his significant other Bambi Leach. He loved his aunt Robin (Fagan) Simmering, morning coffee and toast, Cadbury eggs, street tacos, and his moms Christmas cookies. He also loved all things Nirvana. Dom was a lifelong Cleveland Browns which was a genetic defect he obtained fan from his mother. The only way he would want a funeral would be if he could have Cleveland Browns as pall bearers so the Browns could let him down one last time. He despised the Michigan Wolverines, Pittsburgh Steelers, Heinz ketchup, decaf coffee, hazelnut, and shopping. Dom was world-renowned for his lack of patience for standing in line. He was the typical middle child, but underneath the sarcasm and moodiness held a heart of gold. He pretended to not like animals, but all animals loved Dom. Well, except for Chester (Bucky) Copperpot. That horse hated Dom. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many friends, past neighbors and past co-workers. Tremendous heartfelt thanks go to Dom for being an organ donor. His kidneys were transplanted into two recipients and his pancreas will be used for research at Nationwide Childrens Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Many thanks to the SICU staff at Ohio Health Mansfield for the care they gave him. In lieu of traditional viewing and funeral, a memorial contribution can be made in Doms honor to the Ashland Christian Health Center to assist those in need of healthcare. Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby has been honored to assist the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.barkdullfuneralhome.com
