Donald Arter Obituary Donald Elwood Arter, age 83, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. Don was born on January 17, 1941 in Ontario to Elmer and Lucille (Sutter) Arter. He was a life long Crestline resident and a 1959 Crestline High School graduate. He was employed as a machinist for Carter Machine in Galion for 55 years and retired in 2015. Don was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of Crestline Masons Lodge and Lions Club. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, playing golf, cars and tractors. Also, he liked to bird watch and was a collector. He is survived by his children, Martha (Cindy) Arter of Wilmington, North Carolina, Debra (Robert) Martin of Mansfield, Ohio and Michael (Pat) Arter of McKinney, Texas; his son-in-law, Ronald Bell; his six grandchildren: Matthew (Ashley) Martin, Rebecca (Tyler) Martin Ling, Benjamin (Andrea) Martin, Jared (Mia) Arter, Joshua (Julianne) Arter and Meg Arter; his thirteen great-grandchildren: Jude Martin, Ezra Martin, Eliza Martin, Max Wilson, Samuel Ling, Eve Ling, Jaxton Martin, Hadley Martin, Bonnie Martin, Jamis Arter, Miles Arter, William Arter, and John Arter; his siblings, Marge (Sonny) Fullager of Columbus, Ohio and Barbara (Bill) Bowman of Evansville, Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda (Newhon) Arter in 2022 and their daughter Mary Arter-Bell in 2012. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 starting at 12pm at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, Ohio with Pastor Diane Seaman officiating.
